So I actually have a job now. So to speak. I'm being paid to take care of this lady who was in a car accident, so I run errands and do housework and stuff. Heheh. Aaaaaah the irony.~
Anyway, me, Eric, Tom, and Ange are watching the Ring. Truly invigorating, yes.
Oh! And my order from Borders of Snow Crash didn't come in today, which means I get it free. So I win. Yes I do.

I know! I'm really hoping they don't give me crap like, "Oh, we weren't supposed to call you." Or something. I want my free stuff.~ XD
You were the one who recced that book to Linen, right? Have you read any of his other stuff?

Yup I was. XD I rec lots of things to her, because I read far too much. I've got a copy of Cryptonomicon... but, frankly, it's intimidating me. XD I'll start it SOMEtime this summer.

Yeah, I wanna read a lot more than I do, but during school it's always a competition between that and my homework. Die, TV die. Anyway, yeah. I almost bought Cryptonomicon because it looked cooool but I figured I'd wait and read the one recced first and see how I like his writing.

I thought his writing style was pretty easy to read, ESPECIALLY considering the subject matter. There's a pretty decent sized section of Snow Crash that's just a debate and analyzation about Sumerian mythology... and it was ENJOYABLE.

Oh GODS I can't wait for that. I haven't read Sumerian mythology in years, and for some reason I've been fixated on it recently. Probably because I'm trying to get into this grad program for mythology with emphasis on depth psych, and also because I've been watching Gilgamesh, the anime. Sooo weird, but kinda awesome in it's own way. Anyway, I sound like such a hick, but easy to read is good, especially because since I'm always so busy, when I read it's usually to relax. Right now I'm just starting House of Leaves and I liiiiikes it.

All mythology is awesome. =3 I just wish I could stay interested in one long enough to be able to call myself an 'expert' in it. My knowledge of mythos is very very VERY scattered.

I feel the same way. ...and I really am a hick. Missourah raised, in a spot of suburbia surrounded by farmland. XD Easy to read is good. Easy to read means the author is doing their job. ...and that's why I could never get into Tolkien. Or Faulkner. So. Long. Winded.

House of Leaves... I keep seeing that title everywhere, but I've yet to look up what it's about.

Yeah, I learned to read on books on Egyptian mythology. Literally. And then like, a lot of Sumerian, Japanese, Greek, Roman, and Hawaiian, which is sorta duh for where I grew up.

I TOTALLY agree, I hate it when authors write so dense. Especially all those Asimov and whatnot scifi books Ange reads. Boooooorrrriiiiiinnnng.

House of Leaves is sort of a cult thing, I'll be able to tell you more when I finish it. The album Haunted by Poe corrolates to the book, which is basically a book about a guy reading a manuscript written by a guy about a movie that doesn't exist. In a nutshell. And its fuckingscary.
