Yeeeeeah. Yeeeah, I feel hardcore.

So I went to talk with my faculty advisor on Monday. It went sort of like this:
Me: "Hi, I'm Daria."
Prof. Hudson: "Oh, hi. Yeah. Lets see your transcript... Oh, looks good. Ok... Ok... *marking at stuff with a pencil* Next fall, take this, this, and this. Or maybe this... Nah. Take the other one. Yep. You're doing great. Have a nice afternoon."
Me: *standing with mouth hanging slightly open, trying to register things*
Elapsed Time: 00:50 seconds... or thereabouts.
So I took the transcript home and stared at it, and then I got out my course catalog and stared at that. According to the catalog (and I think this one is pretty close to the one the year before, which is what I'm going by.), I have eleven more classes to take: Seven required and four electives. I'm done with all my Foundations and all my Gen-Ed (HALLELUJAHOLYCRAP!). Eleven classes is one class under four quarters. (For all you normal people, basic SCAD scheduling is three 5-cred courses per 10-week quarter. 20 classes of each course, with two meetings a week, 2.5hrs each. No class on Fridays. Sound good? Yeah. It is, but it's almost all out-of-class projects. So we technically are supposed to log more hours than a normal Lib-Sci University. HA.) Anyway, I'm really annoyed at the whole extra-quarter bit. You know, just once I'd like to finish some sort of schooling in the normal way, and the right time *mumbling curses*. So after a lot of deliberation, and some interrogation of my Prof. Lyle (Or, the Great and Awesom Prof. Lyle who rocks my socks.), I'm gonna attempt two quarters of four classes each. I'm gonna try for two lectures each quarter, so as to keep the studio classes at the normal load, but yeah. Into the gaping maw go I. And I have really, really been looking for an excuse to use that phrase XD. But I think I'll be able to handle it. I won't have the free time I have this quarter, but ohfuckingwell. I'd like to at least sorta deserve my degree. Sorta.
Oh, and this note to
evilpsychojoe, Oh light-of-my-life, No I'm not going to ditch you. ...Probably XD. Maybe I'll even get a job. Gods, I don't want to get a job. Like, ever.
Total side-note, the Silent Hill series of dreams I seem to be stuck in are still better than the three laughing, screaming heads in a 5-gallon bucket of pretzels from last week.

Date: 2006-04-27 02:23 pm (UTC)I'm still trying to see my faculty advisor. I've emailed her twice (or trice maybe) and each time she's sent me her office hours. But I tend to have class during her office hours... Hmr. -_-
Did your faculty advisor give you a good example of what to take come fall? I tend to enjoy figuring out what to take on my own (planning stuff! I'm happy!)

Date: 2006-04-27 08:43 pm (UTC)I'm not sure if I wanna get out as fast as possible, or take my time. It's actually an issue, because I COULD take Animation Portfolio and Project Development 2 together, even though my academic advisor doesn't suggest it. But it would get me out a quarter earlier...
Anyway, I hope everything works out for you. If you commit suicide from too much work, what flowers should I bring to the funeral? Would I have to go to Hawai? (Hmm, I like that idea.)

Date: 2006-04-27 08:52 pm (UTC)And you are not allowed to stage my death just for a Hawaii vacation. So booyaka.
If I were you, don't overload yourself. The only reason I'm doing it is so I can save myself one quarter.
