CRAVATS. CRAVATS ARE BACK, BABY. I WILL MAKE IT HAPPEN.

A couple weeks ago I kind of, uh. Invited myself to continue illustrations of manipulant's Into The Woods (the first one being Second To Last Afternoon two art posts ago). Because she's awesome, she gave me the go-ahead, and because she's really awesome, hopefully she won't mind the continuation of gratuitous creative liberty I perpetually take with her stuff. Hopefully. (If it's way too out there, no worries, we can just pretend this never happened. Or, alternately, let me know if you want the file emailed)

This is for the Rapunzel chapters. I promise the next one (if you're still cool with me continuing) will be way happier.



Scarves


This, like Sunshine Machine, started out as a doodle based around mental images of Gerard Way. Because apparently Gerard Way is what I draw when nothing else will do. But then BBB happened and I got derailed, and really, all I'd wanted to draw was scarves. So I finished BBB and went back to draw some fucking scarves.

Very. Very. VERY. Loosely based around the idea of bexless's I Have Been All Things Unholy, or rather, her whole Unholyverse trilogy. Gerard Way is a Priest. Frank Iero gets the Stigmata. Pete Wentz is attacked with a soul-sucking demon orb. Ray Toro makes organic hair products. It's expertly researched and rife with Buffy references. ♥



Gravity (A whole garden, a whole storm*)


Inspired very directly by jukeboxghost's Hey Gravity! and its sequel, An Inch From The Ground.

I can't even. Just. My heart.

It's that thing again that I do, where I have an all-consuming compulsion to try and articulate some kind of abstract, written metaphor into a single static image. It makes me crazy. I spent like, a month doodling on napkins and the backs of receipts and my hand and stuff before I could even try to do anything about it.

An Inch From The Ground



Thanks to the light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel-is-a-train that is grad school, my free hours to draw suddenly have an expiration date, so I'm going kind of crazy right now. I've been drawing in pretty much every free second I have left to me, at work and otherwise, and I'll probably keep on doing it until the hour I leave for Chicago. I'm re-developing raptor-hand; an occurrence that's lain dormant since my last term at SCAD. It's kind of thrilling.

regonym, I still owe you an Elizabethan ruff. I haven't forgotten.

And, as is my usual routine, now I'm going to sit around and fret about whether or not to actually show the non-Rapunzel two to the authors who inspired them. Or I could just continue to skulk around like a huge creeper.

As usual, I'll email/whatever full versions upon request.

Guh, I'm so glad you like it! Your fics are happy and jubilant and wonderful, and I'm glad I could get some of that across.

I'm not really active in fandom or anything, so I always feel super awkward just being all, 'Hi you have now idea who I am but I drew stuff for you! :D'. I just. It's kind of ridiculously exciting to get to share it, so I guess I'm glad LJ is apparently I giant enabler. (and I always offer authors I draw for, if you ever want a larger version of the image, let me know, I'm more than happy to share)

I was just reading back and looking at all of them! :D :D :D They are fantastic, I'm glad I got to sort of marathon them all at once. ♥ But now I want to start at the beginning and read them in the right order and spam you lots. This may have to wait until after I sleep. Boo.

Germany was awesome! I got to ballroom dance lots, and eat lots of awesome food, and have picnics in the park, and get a leetle bit drunk with my sister, and I saw lots and lots of pretty pretty architecture and train stations and cute dogs. I learned some new vocabulary! (my German is dismal. Dismal, I tell you.) I hope to have pictures up fairly soon, if you ever happen to check the Book of Faces.

(tonight at the M&G I was freaking out a bit before we had our excruciating Personal Moment With The Band [seriously it was like those hideous three minutes on Jeopardy where Trebek has to talk to the contestants and I was one of the contestants hogod], and I tried to will one of the glass chandeliers to fall on me and shinshan overheard and said that it was too close to Spencer and I would be responsible for inflicting bodily harm on Spencer Smith and I said "...well. I mean I made him blind once already.")

ANYWAY THE IMPORTANT PART OF THIS COMMENT IS THAT I JUST LOVE ALL OF YOUR DRAWINGS. ALL OF THEM. ESPECIALLY THIS ONE BECAUSE IT IS CREEPY AND AWESOME.

So I'm totally on board with this plan, although really I don't need any kind of compensation since I am having WAY TOO MUCH FUN doing this omg dude you have NO IDEA. But that said, I'm basically a huge attention-seeker so MASS AMOUNTS OF LJ COMMENTS ARE GREAT. DRUNK OR OTHERWISE. I love that you keep encouraging me, it gets me way too excited. My shift partner is trying to talk to me about Judge Dredd and I'm just sitting here grinning like a lunatic. You know what you should do, though? While mutual enabling is in effect? You should write that cut scene with Spencer WEARING THE FUCK OUT OF SOME DRESSES. All I'm saying.

HahaWHAT does shinshan know about your fic? I'm assuming so, otherwise I can see there being some questions. Oh. AND. You aren't allowed to die under a chandalier. Or at all. That would've been a much better story, actually :\ FRANKELSTILTSKINNNNNNN. STOKED. ALSO PEA EPISODE AND LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD (if I am allowed a favorite chapter, it's the Red Riding Hood chapter. I like that wolf).

I did! I edited the swag post for ITW to include them all, and of course fucked all the htmls so now I get to try to redo everything, but it's whatev. your awesome drawrings are still there. there and AWESOME.

We know which chapter is my favorite, I think. In case the flashing red boldtext wasn't clear enough... And hey, while I have your attention on the subject- there were a couple of things I was curious about regarding the dream sequence of the Pea Episode. If that's okay.
