Everything Brendon does feels super scripted. I simultaneously really enjoy him, and then feel it draw up short as soon as the scripted stuff starts really coming out. Polishing your act is all good, but man, idk. I prefer a little bit of spontaneity and crazypants, even if it means shit won't be perfect.

Holy shit, yeah, I missed a lot. My ex gave me a shitton of stuff that'd just come out, so like. Take This To Your Grave and Bullets and... I wanna say... was Mark/Mission/Brand/Scar the album that was out back in early '04? And a bunch of other stuff. I just ended up getting WAY attached to FOB, especially, and then they took off later that year and shit got real and I guess DBC felt too... whiny? I wanna say that was my reaction at the time, though that seems ridiculous seeing as I was also kind of obsessed with Alkaline Trio a couple months later. ...Oh, the Trio. SO. MUCH. LOVE.

I'm gonna listen to all the samples here when I get home tonight, since I have to run out the door in a couple of hours which is coming up WAY TOO FAST and I still haven't finished posting or doing... anything... since I walked in the door.

He's definitely A Performer. Like, performance as opposed to show, you know? But I've been browsing through their recent show pics as they're posted for this tour, and he looks pretty fucking amped. If you want, join thesameband. It's got all the touring stuff and photostreams etc, and that's where I keep yanking the stuff to show you. But yeah, like. Between the scripted, calculated motions of the show, he seems to be throwing himself in pretty hard.

But my favorite part of he current tour? The fact that Spencer seems to be, every night, posting a phone pic on his Twitter of Brendon on stage. Like. During the show. As in, while Brendon is flailing around down there, Spencer is hiding behind a drum kit snapping pictures of him on his phone. THAT IS TOTALLY LEGIT.

Downloaded! I'll listen later this weekend, or at work on Sunday night, but DANCY BOUNCY KEYBOARD BAND YAAAAAY! Even if I kind of hate Daft Punk, but that's just because they are SO FUCKING REPETITIVE.

I think you hit it pretty spot-on with the early Dashboard stuff, like. Yeah, it wasn't as relatable as say- Take This To Your Grave, or So Long, Astoria (Ataris), or Goddamnit! (Alkaline Trio), which were my big wallowy OH GODDDDD OH GOD MY LIIIIIIIIFE albums around that time. Though, Astoria was less wallowing and more a giant, cheerful FUCK YOU. It's sorta precious. Oh, and of course, The Postal Service.

And while I'm spamming you back, and I can't remember if we've ever talked about Alkaline Trio before, JUST IN CASE. You need these songs:

and Mercy Me, which was my adopted theme song the winter I lived in Chicago.
I'm having trouble not overdoing it here, so let me know if you want more. I think I have a ton uploaded already and pretty much anything off of Crimson, From Here To Infirmary, Good Mourning, and Maybe I'll Catch Fire is amazing. Or well. All of it, but those are they're most comprehensively listenable albums, I feel. They have a pretty wide range spanning between pop-punk and super garage-y abject misery discord.

Despite the generic-ness, Danger Radio- WHY SO CUTE? Lol his little sweatband and gym shorts and 80's color scheme and just. CUTE.

YAY I GET TO THROW THINGS AT YOU! And wow, yeah, that Get Up Kids track has a lot of striking similarities to early-2000's Alkaline Trio, no kidding.

Crimson is so SO emo, and I'll never be able to listen to it without thinking about wandering around Chicago in February. I think, comprehensively it's my favorite. I really love I Was A Prayer.
