I am with you on Jimi Hendrix and The Beatles, but I do adore me some Elton John. I totally get that he's not everyone's cup of tea, though, haha~
My icons need a MAJOR overhaul, but my UA will definitely stick around for a while, hee. I have a slight problem and see a guy weekly about it. He's a dirty, dirty enabler who often sells me things at cost rather than at retail, and who spends all his time talking me into big items. I HAVE SO MANY WEAKNESSES.
Everything. He caught on to my UA love and in an effort to make me Uber Geek, he has been convincing me to buy EVERYTHING. He started small- mugs and umbrellas... and moved on to watches and hardback special editions. It cracks him up that I love UA a little more than I love MCR (gasp!)~ He's a terrible, terrible, lovely person.
I've got major respect for Gerard via that series, just speaking from a technical comics nerd standpoint. His ability to keep a tight story together without getting all kitschy and overwrought/contrived is exemplary. ...To make myself sound TOTALLY pretentious.
I suck at collecting shit. I have the trades and the individual issues of Dallas, but I move around a lot and therefore tend not to acquire stuff. Unless you count tattoos, which is pretty much where my nerd paraphernalia happens, and the UA logo is on the list.
I've been going to his shop weekly for... 8 years now? And he's tried and tried and can never get me interested in more than, like, a one shot here or there? (I'd LOVE to get into some big time comics, but there are so many and I get overwhelmed) So me finding UA blew his mind- his gaping face when I walked in and told him to put me on an order form every time it released was priceless.
I don't move around much, nor do I anticipate it, so I'm pretty okay at sitting and collecting. I'd be all for tattoos (and I bet they look slamming!) but I have severe needle issues. :(
I mostly read UA to be all "yeah, ok, up to date with fandom" and somewhere I fell completely head over heels with it.
I have to go crash out for a bit, sickness + work = too exhausted. I have had to retype every third word of this so far. XD
Guh, my life. So tragic. I'll find some comic shop I adore, and ten minutes later I'm hauling my ass halfway across the country again.
This is not an exaggeration.
I relocated back to Chicago like, yesterday. Right after my tattoo guy from back in the day moved to LA because obvs my life is a wasteland
Yeeeah, I'm the opposite. I deal with stress/aging/headaches/split ends/cracks in sidewalks/days ending in "y"/etc with needles. I love getting tattoos. I just generally make myself wait until I really have a need, and then it has to mark some significant event, even if the subject matter is unrelated. But yeah, totally nerdy. Giant Hellboy back piece. Ohyeah.
NNNNGH I cannot wait for him to start putting out a third series!
