sam raimi is god, by the way.
Oct. 24th, 2004 01:36 pmso. i saw the grudge.
go see it NOW!!!
that was by far one of the best movies i've ever seen. i can see how if you have no imagination, you might be somewhat repelled by the mild sense of a skewed timeline and whatnot, but wow... the concepts were so original. in my opinion, it pretty much broke all those shitty type-of-the-mold horror/suspense flicks that have been coming out since the beginning of cinema hisory. people actually do what is *smart* (aka, dont just stand there and see if the creepy shit coming after you is real. run like fuck, find out later. or maybe not at all. which is good too.) and what you'd expect. oh, and the creepy evil things are REALLY creepy. i was having soooo much fun. i actually screamed. i've never screamed in a movie. at a couple points, all four of us (me, dev, katie, and ashley) were all in a big heap. katie is now terrified to do anything alone/use elevators or stairs/close her eyes/turn off the lights/answer the phone. and i'm milking that for all its worth. yeah, i know i'm headed straight to hell. whatev.
the scariest part of the whole thing was the Noise. that was the most disturbing thing i have ever heard. i'm not kidding. i shall not divulge further, but holy shit. i actually pondered jumping up and running out of the theater to make it stop. here i must reiterate the genius of those making this film: they finally realized something a lot of directors havent; that is, you can close your eyes, but you cant entirely block sound. mwahahahah.
to sum up, i'm just happy to say that it was all i wanted it to be and more. so so much more. i first saw the previe in the incubation period of my silent hill fixation (thanks tris. heheh.), and then proceeded to be disappointed by all the *other* stuff that came out in the mean time that i'd been so looking forward to. let me just say, this made up for any and all disappointments.
go see it, but bring someone to glomp onto.
also: we saw three previews that i am very excited about.
1. The Ring 2 (yeah, i know people generally hated the first one, but until last night it was my favorite scary movie. i love psychological horror.)
2. Hide and Seek (robert deniro called upon to actually act. and it looks like its paying off from what i saw. very creepy. very very creepy. dont you love it when you have to hide in a *preview*?)
3. Boogyman (directed by sam raimi. 'nuff said.)
