what will i do when i don't have you to hold onto in the dark?
Ugh, this has taken me long enough.
Hey,
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
Two more for the Into The Woods set. (And I post in the order they were drawn, not the order of the chapters. Just... FYI. Like it matters.)
I feel like at this point it's mostly pointless/redundant to state just how completely I employ the term "loosely based upon", but for posterity. VERY. VERY LOOSELY BASED UPON.
Frankelstilskin
In what was probably one of the most appropriate casting decisions made within fandom, Frank Iero plays a guitar-toting Rumpelstiltskin. Strums straw into gold and doles out free relationship advice. Bonus penis-having recognition abilities.
The Pea Episode
WAITWAITWAIT HEAR ME OUT, IT MAKES SENSE, I PROMISE. Well. Kind of it does.
So the Princess And The Pea. Better known as the Pea Episode. I had no idea what to draw, because it's all... tame. Like, nothing really horrible happens to anybody, there's no impending doom, no swan-dives into giant piles of thorns. Everyone is kind of cranky and petulant, but that doesn't exactly translate to my, uh. Style. If you could call it that. But then there's this creepy-ass dream sequence with pseudo-zombie Brendon (

and night comes to Tallahassee
This just sort of happened while I was listening to Oceanographer's Choice on repeat. John Darnielle writes some of my most very favorite words.
And a bonus doodle!
you are my anchor
My Man Without Wax fangirling, let me show you it.
Although, I'm pretty sure that when they put You are my anchor on their band shirts, they meant it in the nice way.
...Ohwell.
Bigger, shinier versions here, at my Blogspot.
...Maybe someday I'll even have followers. And like. triple-digit pageviews. Lol.

And I really like the anchor doodle, too, how fluid it is.

That background drove. Me. CRAZY. Seriously. I spent three whole nights at work trying to figure it out. Like, I'd spend all one night on it, come in the next night and hate it. Erase it. Redo it. And on and on. What even is my life.
Yeah, I kept trying to make it a full-size legit thing, but it just wouldn't work. Still not sure if it looks under-water enough, but adding bubbles and shit seemed tacky.
I kind of really love drawing rope.

I like how ambiguous it is; I thought she was floating in air at first.

Besides that. AHAH THANK YOU. Geez, you have no idea. I'm having a very ITW-type reaction to Anchor right now, where I sorta wanna illustrate song by song. Urgh. ♥ THEM. And also YOU. ♥ ♥ ♥
I do, yes. And the flailing is always appreciated.~

FRANKELSTILTSKIN OMG. SHUT UP WITH THOSE CURLY-TOED SHOES AND THE SKELETON GLOVES HOLY SHIT AND HIS LIP RING HOW SO PERFECT HOWWWWWWWWW. ALSO I LIKE THE WRAP-UP BALLET TYPE SHOE THING GOING ON. NICE.
ALSO HOLY FUCKING GOD BRENDON OH MY JESUS OKAY SO I DIDN'T NOTICE THE STITCHES ON THE MOUTH UNTIL I OPENED THE FILE IN ANOTHER TAB AND CLICKED IT TO FULLSIZE AND STRAIGHT UP RECOILED FROM THE SCREEN (AND THAT IS AN AWESOME THING, I LOVE IT WHEN YOU ARE CREEPY WITH THESE, IT IS SUCH A CREEPY STORY ALL TOLD) AND HOLY JESUS HOW ARE HIS EYES SO SCARY HOW DID YOU DO THAT OH MY LORD
TO SUM UP: I WILL DO WHATEVER YOU WANT IF YOU PROMISE NEVER TO STOP DRAWING THINGS.
no subject
I'M SO GLAD YOU APPROVE! No, seriously. It makes me really happy that you're cool with this, and that, like, you get the whole not-exactly-fan-art thing that's going on here.
Dude, the zombie Brendon thing was living in my head for WEEKS. I think I've pretty much resigned myself to making all of these are creepy and sketchtastic as I can, which is pretty much always my m.o., but. You know. It's nice to have the validation here. :D Any excuse to draw lips stitched shut, you have no idea. ...And how many times in high school I got sent to the councilor for doing stuff like this in class.
Ohgodddd you know that for all my talk, I'm not gonna be able to stop when I start school. I'm going to be in my child and family practice seminar, sitting there drawing boys making out and crazy demon wolf possession and shit and I AM NEVER GOING TO GET A LEGIT JOB BUT WHO THE FUCK CARES.Oh right. I assume you probably want files, huh? I'll get on that.
And as much as your last statement there is probably rhetorical, I do have a potential favor to ask-
What are the odds I could get you to plug my journal/blogspot/whatever? If you ever feel so inclined, it'd make me happy to have a couple more audience members.

The easiest way to see the rest of my stuff is to use my "art" or "draw gud yes" tags, that should cover it (and I'm a huge attention-seeker, so this thrills me jsyk). Bigger versions are at my blogspot (link at the bottom of this post), should you feel so inclined.
I'm on my phone at work right now, so I can't really go looking, but what's the best way to find your stuff?
And hi, cravat appreciation? You can stay, please. ♥
no subject
I'm def going to look through those tags! your style is so much rad (where on earth have you been hiding, i don't know how I've missed seeing your art around fandom before!)
i used to post all my arts to LJ, so my art tag and bandom tags but now I just post everything to my tumblr. whoo tumblr.
and unf, cravats were maybe 90% of what my participation in bandom revolved around. no, really. It was kind of embarassing (except not really. cravats and waistcoats and tailcoats, oh my.)

I... am not really in fandom. Like, at all, really. I was thrown forcefully at bandfic back in November by a friend (is the short version) and the Into The Woods series I'm working on for
I'll check out your links as soon as I get home in a couple hours. Wow, this is weird. I never talk to other drawing-types. :D

ETA:
Can we be crazy costume people together? Because yeah. (you're not allowed to be embarrassed because then I'd have to be, and that just sounds like a lot of work.)
I have no patience for digital stuff beyond throwing around some duotone and levels and crap. I think my tablet is growing restless.

I ran across your work on bbb, and thought it was all kinds of gorgeous and adorable, so I stalked you over here to see all your other lovely stuff. I love how you've taken ideas and run with them in awesome crazy directions (Rumpelstiltskin Frank? Genius!), it's really nice to see such a different twist on everything. Also I have mad jealousy for people who can draw with traditional media, I'm so far down the digital rabbithole it scares me.
LASTLY CRAVATS. My weakness. Also I noticed a mention of McQueen down there, which made me all kinds of happy.
That's basically my longwinded way of asking if you would mind if I added you as a friend?

I can't really take credit for the Frankelstilskin idea (or the Thorns, or the Pea Episode, or the Second To Last Afternoon, or the Whole Garden Whole Storm, or... whatever else I'm forgetting.), since those were the author's concepts, but yeah. I'm not so great at doing proper fan art, like, "Draw this scene with these dudes doing this" kind of deal (bbb was HARD), but I loooove just dicking around with pre-existing ideas and seeing where it goes. And hey- I can't sit still long enough for digital media stuff to save my life. I think holding a pencil/brush is probably the one thing in my life I've ever found that keeps me sitting still for more than ten minutes at a time, but if you want me to do anything involving color? ...Yeahno.
My McQueen influences should be attributed to

And of course, I'm daft - I swear I did read that those drawing up there were based on the story, but that's what I get for writing comments in the dead of night (and clearly I don't learn from experience, because it's 1am and I'm doing it again - oh well?). I think there's a lot to be said for having a bit of fun messing around with ideas anyways - I think you and speep were having a conversation down there somewhere about being uncomfortable when things are a bit too close to reality anyways? I totally agree, I'd really rather my bandom stuff is a bit loose on the details and heavy on the AU, so it's all good.
I find colour kind of intimidating - there's a whole set of extra skills involved in making something in colour look good. Not only do I have to worry about composition, anatomy, tone and light, I have to do it all in a whole other spectrum? Ughgggghhhhh.... I'm trying to branch out more with colour, but sometimes I like to just concentrate on b&w. It's pretty, anyways, hah.
Between yourself and speep, WE WILL LEAD A CRAVAT REVIVAL. Maybe my personal challenge for the rest of this year can be to figure out how to get one into my actual wardrobe. I guess I'd have to buy a collared shirt first...
And cheers for following me on twitter, I read yours and promptly cracked up. YAY FOR NEW PEOPLE!

Ahahaha THANKS. Okay, like. It's weird and it's me being a headcase again, but after the show last night, I feel weird associating these with actual people at all. I mean, via fic, sure, but just. Yeah. Idk. I have no idea how to articulate... ANYWAY.
Yes! I am glad you like them! I think I wanna fiddle with Tallahassee a little, maybe but I dunno. I was pretty pleased with the octopus lamp, since I felt like I needed something to make it an obvious oceanographer-type reference. And yeah, it is sort of your room. Like. Sort of. I think that's kind of what I was picturing subconsciously while I was drawing, and since I'm so stuck in moving-mode right now, yeah. YAY COMMENTS.

Okay, so I just stalked my way through all of the above threads, and hahahaha,
Also do I get to see your bbb pieces? I want to see your bbb pieces.
Right, the show, so you're, like, in Seattle right now or what? WHAT'S UP? I am going to be unpacking boxes/organizing my room all day, goddammit my brother's wedding is SOON and we're going to have to fit ALL OF THESE PEOPLE INTO OUR HOUSE and ARGH my stuff is EVERYWHERE.

Oh goodness, thank you so much! (I assume you found the site link for the bigger versions where you can actually kinda see detail...) And you know, I've actually been thinking about trying to make a print of that one. Not entirely sure how, aside from like, Kinko's or whatever, but if you'd be interested, lemme know.
Of course I don't mind. Friended back!~ Out of curiosity, how'd you find me? I mostly suck at advertising.

Oh dude, I would most definitely be interested! Just let me know if you come up with something :D
