Man, why the hell is Cobra fic so rare? I mean, the band literally asks for it. Like. With words. WHY IS THERE SUCH AN ABSENCE? Also The Academy Is... fic. Same deal. C'MON, PEOPLE. WHAT GIVES?!
I actually still have another piece I need to do for Into The Woods. manipulant's pretty much my patron author at this point. She gets territorial. It's sweet and does REALLY ridiculous things to my ego. ...And then there's this whole folktale set thing I'm trying to work out in my head (the naga piece kicked that off), and I've got three more Horsemen after Nate's Pestilence. And also I want to draw my way through all the man-dresses from Into The Woods, too, because I hate myself or something. >:DDDD
But no. Seriously. "I'll take a rare Cobra, maybe a couple Fall Out Boys if you've got 'em, and ALL THE TAI REGENCY YOU HAVE. No really. Check the back room or something. >:|"
All the man dresses in the world! Because only Panic can pull off the man dresses and possibly Gerard. :D
There's this fic (http://anon-lovefest.livejournal.com/67416.html?thread=9735256#t9735256l) in anon-lovefest that's pretty good for Cobra fic. :D I don't know if you've seen it yet or not...
Oh dude, you rock! I haven't seen the fic, and I'll totes check out the fic comm when I get a chance (started new semester last week, my entire world is class readings right now. fuccccck.)
Haha dude, right? I watched WAY too much Project Runway last semester, and it finally ended with a desperate, burning need to draw Spencer Smith-types in fairytale dresses. THIS IS HOW I HANDLE STRESS, OK?
Mostly I get all my fic recs from a couple of people, and I actually haven't been reading any except here and there for... man. Months? I kinda don't really find fic on my own, so. YAY! Thanks!
The comm was created totally spur of the moment...I was talking to someone and we got on the topic how there isn't a cobra fanfic comm and 2 weeks later that comm was born. /o\ (I can totally understand that. *patpats* there, there)
lol, THAT IS A VALID EXCUSE ON HOW YOU COPE WITH STRESS! DON'T FORGET THE BUBBLE WRAP!
Mmmm, fic, fic, fic:
BBB: Punk Rock Princess Master Post (http://hapakitsune.livejournal.com/107255.html) - Gabriela Saporta isn't some pop princess. From Humble Beginnings to Midtown to Cobra Starship, she lives life her own way and damn the consequences.
You Have My Heart (in your hands) (Gabe/Victoria, FRAO, 37,000 words) Master Post (http://rsadelle.livejournal.com/248606.html) - Victoria finds out her boyfriend's cheating on her. Then she finds out she's pregnant. Cobras are never alone, and Gabe's there every step of the way.
There we go, a couple of nice and long Cobra fics for ya. :D
HAHA YES. Just. heavens forbid my classmates ever ask to see what I'm drawing...
Aaah thanks! Ngl, I'm not so into the Gabe/Victoria, but I'll check it out. I'm sitting here thinking and I don't think I've ever actually read Cobra fic that wasn't Gabe/Bill if it was shippy at all... JFC can I just have like 200k of Cobra and Academy sitting around being idiots? I would read the SHIT out of that.
I wasn't really into Gabe/Victoria either, but this fic grew one me. It actually shows them developing as characters and slowly heading that way, so that's what sold the fic for me.
Okay, so there's Cobra in the fic, but the pairing is primarily Kevin Joas/Mike Carden (yes, this pairing exists, it has a very good following, myself included.) It has them sitting around doing 'I've Never Ever.' and shots. :D fic here. (http://sodamnskippy.livejournal.com/20004.html#cutid1)
Okay, so don't take this the wrong way, but- what the HELL?! Kevin Jonas and... Carden. Um. So like. Can I ask how the fuck that ever happened? Ever? Not that I'd be against it, I'm just really, truly, genuinely perplexed.
This right here (http://rsadelle.livejournal.com/252511.html) explains it so well. Go Ctrl+F for finding, 'cause there is a lot of pictures and type in pairings. Right below pairings explains Mike Carden/Kevin Jonas. *firm nod* We call the pairing Skippy. :D
So after reviewing the primer thingy, I am, admittedly, no less side-eye about the whole thing, but I have a really hard time not appreciating the candor with which you've all gone about dredging up a completely random just-because pairing.
Respect.
...also I could look at pictures of Bill Beckett being RIDICULOUS all day. Just so that's out there.
I'm down with that. fuck this week. Today has felt like friday and I don't want to go into work tomorrow. *flops* But on the bright side, I have a week off next week! Come have the week off with me! I'll bake you cookies and we can frolic through bandom together! :D
The SGA/Bandom of DOOM fic is where teh pairing began. Right here. (http://pantstomatch.net/bandslash.html#supersaturation) Because I am nothing if not an enabler. :D
Bill Beckett being ridiculious is always a valid excuse to stalk look at his pictures. :D
Also, you were asking for TAI Regency fics and it's kinda Regency, kinda Steampunkish. It's also The World's First Bandom/Disney Crossover Victorian Batman AU. I kid you not! It's so massive, it has it's own comm with wonderful tags and easy reading. :D Right here: vbau.
Today technically is my Friday, but that just means I get to spend the next three days reading. And reading. And READING. Hahaha SURE OKAY! But you get to explain to my profs, especially the scary one for Research Methodology, why I'm absent (no really, DO IT!).
I've seen Beckett the last couple times he played locally, which. HILARIOUS. ALWAYS. He did a show back in... October? I think? Right before they announced the split, like, a week or so before, that took place in Macy's. Not only in Macy's- in the Macy's junior's section in the middle of the afternoon. And start to finish he spent the whole time putting his foot in his mouth. It was GREAT. Carden was there backing him on acoustic and kept having to start playing REALLY LOUDLY over Beckett's continued fails at banter, just to keep shit moving. Pretty much it was the funniest thing ever.
Oh shit. Regency AND Disney AND Batman? I'm there.
I'll totally explain! And if they know what's good for them they'll give you an A while you frolic through bandom. ;)
I saw pictures of that! lol That is awesome to know! I haven't been to a concert in a long time...my last one...Brad Paisley, yes country, but it was for my Mom's birthday and I like a couple of his songs and you know what, Brad delivered. He put on an awesome show and for someone who isn't into country like my Mom, I was very impressed, I was jumping around and dancing in my seat andn on my feet. I wouldn't mind seeing him again.
:D The first two posts are introduction and a character cheat sheet and the third post, you just read from there and keep going. :D It's an awesome read. :D
HA! \o/ "No really! It's very academic!" ...actually, maybe it'd slide just on the grounds of a few angst fics I'm aware of basically objectifying and exploiting shit that is totally relevant to my classes and so if I wrote some kind of scathing commentary term paper maybe they'd let it slide... hmmm... must not seriously consider doing this MUST NOT
Lol you saw pictures? Awesome. Yeah, it was basically horrifying in the best ways. Especially the entirely unrelated part where I was waiting to meet a friend outside before going into Macy's and there was some weird festival thing happening that had State Street all cordoned off, and there was a group of 20 or so middle-aged suburban housewife-types jazzercising in the middle of the road to Ready To Go (Get Me Out Of My Mind). Of all the times NOT to have a video camera.
do it! Scathing commentary term paper ftw! \o/ :D And No Really! It's Very Academic! should be your title. ;)
You know, I just want to know what Mike Carden is doing now...I mean, Sisky is playing Bass in Say Anything, Bill is off doing is solo project, Michael Guy is whoring himself to other bands and Butcher is alternating between percussion for Cobra and The Animal Upstairs. WHERE IS THE MIKE, PEOPLE?!?!?!
What a time not to have a video camera! lol I remember walking through Suzy Shear one time (womens' clothing store) and Patrick Stump's 'This City' started blarring overhead, I know I had a 'wtf' face on me when that happened. Because really who expects Patrick stump signing in a women's clothing store? WHO!
*grumblegrumble* Yeah, I wanna do it and then I wanna slam it in sections into comments in certain fics with all of the high horse-riding judgey side-eye footstomping I can convey through text. ...Not that I have like, opinions or anything. :D
Well, he was playing guitar for Beckett in October... He wasn't at the show on December 30th, which surprised me a little, so... idk. I wonder if he's even still in the area. (For the record, Tom and Sean used to live above the liquor store a few blocks away back when I basically gave the place half my paycheck. This will crack me up til the day I die.)
oh OH oops posted too soon- DUDE PATRICK STUMP IN A STORE! YAY! I swear I get that song stuck in my head every time I go outside. It's Magnificent. Speaking of live shows. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
I thought he lived in LA with his girlfriend Emma? Is he still dating her? Maybe Mike has become her pool boy...(That is awesome! Chicago is such a hotbed of famous muscians...*flops* I wanna like live there now)
lol, sorry I guess I mistyped, he wasn't in the store, but his voice was coming over the sound system, I guess it was a CD someone popped in or a 'store CD' that repeats songs, etc.
I have no idea. Like, I know basically nothing about him other than his playing guitar in TAI, which, YAY! But yeah.
Famous musicians are one thing, but the badassery of our music scene is pretty much unbeatable. Patrick Stump especially makes me happy, just with his completely unabashed pride and love affair with the city. I'm mostly on par with that, so it's fun to basically have a whole album of songs- FOB and its similar persuasions too, for that matter- that basically reflect ALL OF MY FEEEELINGS about this town. reni_days looooves to tease me mercilessly about the world-sized hearteyes I have for Chicago, but she just doesn't understand. Sigh.
Oh! Nono I got it, sorry, I was typing really fast because I was editing the comment and didn't want you to reply before I fixed it. No, I understood. That's AWESOME, though! Like, that places play his solo stuff. I'm so happy for him that he's rocking out again.
I really hope he does come up with something or creates a band...MIIIIKE!!! COME BACK! I WANT TO STARE AT YOUR FOREARMS AGAIN THROUGH PRETTY PRETTY PICTURES!!
Hee! I was never much into the music scene here in Winnipeg, the most I know The Guess Who came from here and there is this one band called Inward Eye, I went to school with two of them, and their music is kick ass, very punk-rockish. Hee! Hey, you know what! Feel pride! Be badass! CHICAGO!! *rock fingers* :D
Oh good! lol sometimes I type stuff out and then I look at it later and someone has replied to it and the comment makes no sense and then I'm like 'what did I write?!?!?!' O.o
